Yesterday our little Logan was born.  He was 5 weeks and 1 day early, quite a surprise to all of us.  He was very big for his age, weighing 6 lbs 10 oz and was 19.5 inches long.  He is now in the NICU, learning how to breathe on his own.  It has been quite an emotional ride, but he is progressing and I can't wait until I can take him home.  I am leaving the hospital in a couple hours without him and I think it will take its toll on me, but Darrin has been so great supporting me.

Congrats! That's so sad that you can't take him home, but I'm sure he'll be home in your arms before you know it! Hope all goes well!

Oh my goodness! Congratulations! We'll keep your family in our prayers, but at least the wait is over. :)

I completely understand not expecting to have a baby and then having one all of a sudden much earlier than expected. Kyle was only 4 weeks early, and he weighed less than that. So way to grow them strong and big, Rach. I'm so sorry that it is hard and you have to leave him. I can't imagine. Keep us updated. But, congratulations. You have a baby. Wonderful! and on a happy note, you missed the worst uncomfortable part of pregnancy and the dying to get the baby out. We love you. :)

Oh, what a cutie, even 5 weeks early. Congratulations, and I hope you're feeling okay. My sister's kids have all had to be in the NICU for a couple of weeks after birth, and it's very very difficult for the parents. Keep your chin up, he'll be home with you soon!
By the way, I CAN'T believe you named him Logan James- that has been my favorite name for years and years! When Dallin and I were dating, I told him I want to name one of our sons that, and we were planning on naming our next boy that. Ha! How strange that you picked out the exact first and middle name that I've always loved! Hope you don't mind if we still name our kid that too. :)

I am so impressed at you two! You were so prepared with the items you needed so now, hopefully, you can focus on your little one! PLEASE let me know what I can do for you, if anything. We are close and Shane is working at home so we are willing and able to be there. :)
I know the NICU experience is not what you were planning and it is not easy on the emotions. We sure love you and all three of your cute family are often in our thoughts and prayers.
We'll see you again soon!

We are so excited to have him in our family! Stroking his little hand and arm today was one of my many joys on Mother's Day. Can't wait to have him home.

Oh wow! This is Megan (my husband Weston was Darrin's room mate and your friend Elizabeth is my sister-in-law) by the way. :)
Our baby was born 5 weeks early as well. There's no way to describe what a shock is is, huh? Here's what I wish someone had told me when he was born: 1.It's not your fault! 2. He's a fighter and he's going to be ok. 3. How lucky that you get such a tiny baby for longer than most. Snuggle that little guy all you can because before you know it he'll be huge and healthy. :) Good luck with everything. He's such a lucky baby to have you two as his parents.
